Design Process

Sketching

I choose to investigate the french press because the design has stagnated for over a decade. The new design is form follows experience, creating a desired coffee brewing experience.

Working it out 

Using foam sculpting, I began incorporating traditional japanese ceremony to a french press brewing process.

Holding an object or bringing it to your lips to drink can be an intimate experience.

Rendering Process

I moved back and forth between sketching and rendering to create a precise and free form without costly CAD errors.

Cuppa revolves around the idea of enjoying the sensations of brewing coffee. Scent, touch, sight, sound, and taste.

inner arm presses firmly into wood notch to keep lid on
Twist lock captures bottom catch to pulling grounds out when cleaning.
